Harriman Point to close for maintenance works

One of Waranga Basin’s frequently used recreation areas will be temporarily closed for routine maintenance works in early May.

Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW) is undertaking works to repair erosion damage to the high-level boat ramp at Harriman Point.

The works will begin on 6 May and are likely to take two weeks depending on weather conditions.

GMW Storage Operations south manager Paul Beard said Harriman Point Recreation Area would be closed for the duration of the works.

“With water levels at Waranga Basin having dropped due to irrigation demand and drier weather, the sections of the ramp we need to repair are now above the waterline,” he said.

“We have also timed the works to ensure they do not coincide with a time of high use, however, to ensure public safety, we will be closing the recreation area until the works are complete.”

Boat ramps at Caravan Park Reserve and Sapling Point will remain open for the duration of the works.

“We thank people for their patience during the works and look forward to reopening the boat ramp when it is back in optimum condition,” Mr Beard said.
