Jamie - Field Services Team Lead

Jamie

Field Services Team Lead

Meet our Field Services Team Lead Jamie, who has been with us for almost seven years.

2022 was Jamie’s fourth Winter Works, where he oversaw contractors and GMW field officers, guiding them to complete linear works projects.

Jamie's passion lies in earthworks, watching projects come to life and reach their full potential once complete.

After Winter Works, he's back in a truck, digger, or roller for the rest of the year.

Dannielle - Environmental Maintenance Coordinator

Dannielle

Environmental Maintenance Coordinator

Dannielle has been with us for more than seven years and heads our weed treatment programs. Behind the scenes, she develops strategic plans and supports maintenance coordinators, ensuring efficient weed control practices across our irrigation districts. From creating spray program formulations to carrying out field inspections, Dannielle handles it all.

The Winter Works period is her busiest time of year, as she leads a large treatment program, which this year is treating weeds in up to 300km of channels across the district. Collaborating with her team, she customises treatments for each district, considering various factors like weed species and application timing.

“This helps us refine our future treatments and maintain smooth water delivery,” she said

“I really love getting hands-on in the field, working closely with my colleagues and tackling innovative weed control approaches.”

Dannielle’s passion and expertise make her an invaluable asset to the GMW team!

Russel - Field Services Coordinator

Russel

Field Services Coordinator

As a dedicated member of the GMW team for the past 15 years, Russel knows a thing or two about keeping things running efficiently.

The Field Services Coordinator for the west works closely with the Water Delivery Services Team to plan and achieve the goals over the Winter Works period.

“Our plans include identifying which channels and assets to target, how much time and budget to allocate, and the order in which to proceed,” he said.

“Once a plan becomes clear, we begin with necessary preparations such as securing resources and making sure there is access to the channels.”

But what really motivates Russel are the people.

“Working as part of a great team is what makes my job truly rewarding,” he said.

Aaron - Project Delivery Manager

Aaron

Project Delivery Manager

Aaron enjoyed his first GMW Winter Works program in 2022.

The mechanical engineer by trade started as our Project Delivery Manager in August 2022 and is in charge of making sure all the projects are delivered on time and on budget as part of our annual winter maintenance and capital works program.

Aaron began his professional life with BlueScope Steel before moving to Kempe Engineering where he worked locally and in the Middle East building aluminium smelters.

Over the past seven years, Aaron managed the project delivery and supply chain for the Wood Group’s Melbourne Water contract.

“GMW has made me feel very welcome since I started and I’m really looking forward to working as part of the team to deliver this year’s Winter Works,” he said.

Tom - Automation Technician Team Lead

Tom

Automation Technician Team Lead

Nineteen years and still going strong!

Tom is our Automation Technician Team Lead, coordinating automation works for the East and Central irrigation areas and communication node works for the GMID and water storages.

When it comes to Winter Works, Tom plays a crucial role.

His responsibilities include completing repairs that cannot be done while the irrigation channels are in use, preventative maintenance inspections, corrective maintenance and overseeing minor capital works.

“I really enjoy leading a small group of very dedicated individuals who take on the challenge of ensuring thousands of automated and communication assets operate smoothly every day,” he said.
