GMW services a region of 68,000 square kilometers, bordered by the Great Dividing Range to the south, the River Murray to the north and stretching from Corryong in the east to Nyah in the west.

GMW provides more than 39,000 water management, storage, delivery and drainage services to about 25,000 active customers.

A key part of the region is the Goulburn Murray Irrigation District (GMID), which spans 27,000 square kilometres across the municipalities of Greater Shepparton, Swan Hill, Campaspe, Moira, Gannawarra and Loddon.

GMW is responsible for managing seven river basins, including the Loddon, Campaspe, Goulburn, Broken, Ovens, Kiewa and Upper Murray basins.

GMW manages a number of historic irrigation assets, including Goulburn Weir, Lake Eildon and Dartmouth Dam, opens in new window, the largest capacity dam in Victoria. Many of these storages are popular recreational destinations, offering activities including fishing, boating, swimming and camping.

We are the northern Victorian Resource Manager, opens in new window appointed by the Minister for Water and are responsible for making seasonal determinations, opens in new window,which specify the water that is available to holders of water shares for all northern Victorian declared water systems.
